Well it depends on age and situations. Go check with your local welfare office and see what they provide, which state are you in?

I think you'll find you're doing some stereotyping yourself, implying that all these girls are stupid. I became pregnant when I was 19, I was on the pill and the father was my boyfriend who I'd been with for 4 years, so I wouldn't say I'm stupid, could've happened to anybody. My boyfriend decided he wasn't old enough and buggered off, and I was left alone as a single parent, does that make me a bad person, or stupid?
Anyway, in answer to your question, there is a lot of support for people, although it does depend on your council, sort of a postcode lottery. You get housing benefit and council tax benefit, although you tend to have to live in a rubbish area where the rent is cheap and get even more stereotyped because of it. You get income support, and when I decided to go back to college, I got my course fees paid, funding towards my bus fares, and my full child-care fees paid for me.It isn't a great life, you feel permanently skint and looked down upon by other people, but if you dig in hard for a couple of years you can pull yourself out of it. And in the end, you can be very proud of yourself when you look at your child. A lot of young girls say they don't get enough money, but they tend to be the ones going out all the time, drinking, smoking, buying new playstation games instead of food etc. So basically, the support is there, but you have to be very self-determined.
Oh, and I paid tax for 3 years prior to being pregnant, and I'm paying it again now and will continue to do so for the next 40 odd years, so please don't give me grief about asking for a little help back when I needed it.

Though I am not crazy about kids using YA to do their homework I will give you a hint.

You need two demographics, one of which has to do with teen pregnancy.

Do both.

One demographic would be the average teen who finds themselves with child.

The other demographic would be the taxpayers who pay for the financial services the teens gain.

If you want to look for welfare support for teens, just do a google search and you will find a few thousand sites that explain just what the parents of a child in your state are able to get in 'help'.

The tougher one, will be to find information on the other demographic. Nobody wants to talk about this one, its a gross minority. In some cases you have to back into the statistics to figure it out.

Everything that is available to a pregnant teen is paid for by someone. Those people in some areas of the country are far fewer then those who are requiring aid.

It will make for a very interesting report.

i got pregnant when i was 21, a little different, plus my husband is in the marines, SO they helped out pretty much with EVERYTHING. and not sure of the age of the parents. but think it all depends, what are they doing? their age, ect. i know they can go on welfare, but for her, the opportunities for work are going to be slim for awhile after the baby is born, and while pregnant. after it would mostly just be part time while the baby is with the father or family members.... all depends on what she can get, age of course and the people, if anyone, are willing to help out... so you are really really vague on the question... if they are 13 or 14 its a hell of a lot different than if they are 18-19.

wow all i have to say is that some people on here r truely ignorant. many times the mothers will work their a***es off to support their chilf, family also helps a lot. i no many people who are teenage mothers n none of them r on welfare or any goverment programs. its too easy to just assume that because u r a teenage mother that u will b dependant on tha goverment to support tha child. lets all get r heads out of r a**es stop n being judgemental n stereotypical.

There are various welfare programs-- WIC, food stamps, Medicaid, school day care to "help" single teenage parents. These programs exist to ensure that teenage parents and their families do not have to take any responsibility for creating babies they can not take care of. If a teenager gets pregnant and has a baby it should be the total responsibility of the two people that created the baby and their parents/families. If teenagers think they are smart enough and mature enough to have unprotected sex and produce children, they are also smart enough and mature enough to take care of them.

lol to your added comment. mind..i thought at first that u were the mother of a pregnant teenager! sorry...ANYWAYZ.

i think they do get special benefits, like housing benefit granteeded (cant spell...sorry). im 20 and pregnant and apparently not elegible for housing benefit, council tax benefit or anything other than milk tokens (healthy start tokens now days). anywayz, go on to www.jobcentreplus.gov and look on there bout what benefits single mums are intitled to.

oh n btw, being pregnant as a teenager dnt make u stupid...some of them culda bin raped u kno?
