I think it is a little scary. She needs to mature more. Not to mention the fact that she is a minor. Why any guy would want to hang out with a girl that young is beyond me, unless he is creepy and looking for sax.

In most cases, age does not matter, but mental and emotional maturity does.

Ever hear people observing boys never grow up? If I go by guys spending more time glued on sports tv, being slouch, or playing with toys, among other things, I'd probably conclude they were just boys needing their mother to direct their lives.

It won't surprise me to see the 16 year old more mature than the 24 year old.

But in the area of dating, better to take it case by case...generalization could be dangerous.

Seems old fashioned. A sixteen year old girl however is not fully developed and birthing of a child could result in death or permanent injury including but not limited to infertility.. Other than that, it still isnt cool because its just a lil kid.. To me at least... Im 25 and i would just ask her "do you like school?" "what are you gonna be when you grow up" and the sort. I do not find it impossible for a sixteen year old girl to have equil or greater maturity than a male of any age, or visa versa.. People seem to mature psychologically at different speeds.... Not that i am claiming to have ever met an emotionally mature female of any age but stranger things have happened.

The main issue, is why a 24-25 year old man would be interested in a teenager. Regardless of how 'mature' she is, she's an adolescent and he's an adult. She should wait 5-8 years.

Maybe not a problem, if the guy is relatively immature or the girl is relatively sophisticated. 24 is still kind of young.

The main issue is, whether the older person is sophisticated enough to use his (or her) more developed abstract thinking ability, and emotional self-control, and perspective to manipulate the younger person, who because of being a youth is less capable of looking out for her (or his) own interests.

Of course, it's moot -- the younger person will learn something from the relationship anyways. The older person may, too.

I think he is scared to death of real women. And I think she has all the wrong ideas about men. I honestly can't even imagine what these two would have in common. At 25, he should be well into his career and life. At 16, she should be thinking about her future. I would suspect this girl is scared of being alone and wants a father figure to take care of her. And I suspect he likes having a little plaything around that he can control.

Real men date women, not little girls.

For vast majorities of the cases, I will say no no. Because the difference of the experiences. 16 year old girl is still a baby and she has limited exposure to the world. If it is 34 and 26, it is ok.

This I will consider the guy to be pervert.

Hi. I'm 23 and i teach Belgian teenagers how to snowboard (i'm also Belgian of course). You can probably imagine how girls can get a crush on their instructor easily. I can tell you, girls are easy when you're their snowboarding instructor. It's almost as simple as picking the one you like best actually. But, i've always found it wrong, 'too easy', in my words.
A friend of mine didn't. He took that same kind of opportunity a couple of years back. He considered her as a trophy. I thought it was pathetic and i tried to convince him of his stupidity. Her 'teenage crush' implied a completely other kind of expectations than his 'easy pick' - he was drunk when he did so by the way. She was proud to be his girlfriend, and because she didn't want to lose her pride, she did whatever he asked for. As they stayed together, he took more and more of the things she sacrificed for him for granted. She didn't want to 'disappoint' him (that was her rationale). I tried to talk sense into her too, and she eventually did leave the bastard - two years later. But he manipulated her, he did whatever he wanted and she naively approved... It's really a sad and pathetic story... Girls of that age are naive, uncertain about almost everything. They are so easy to persuade into sex, there's almost no challenge to it. In fact, that was (and is) my biggest drawback from doing the same thing as he did. Of course i like casual sex, and i like it best when it has no strings attached, but if it asks deception and manipulation, the feminist in me demands a little bit of ethical consideration.

The normal question "does she really want to be dating a 25 year old (or whatever)?" should be specified well. What she grasps in 'dating' and in 'love' is a whole other thing he grasps.

No, it's ok, believe me. I'm 18 and my boyfriend is a lot older than me... But it's Love that matters, nothing more.
