He lives at my work on my desk. He has a five gallon tank. The water temp is usually around 80, but I've raised it to 82 because of his tail. There is a filter and an airstone running. The tank is cycled. I've had him for a few months now. I checked the water yesterday. Ammonia: 0 NitrItes: 0 Nitrates: between 10 and 20
idk about pH, but I use bottled spring water, so I'm not too worried about it... any advice?

There are many commonly available treatments for it; I like Maracyn, personally. You can also add some salt to the water, about 1 flat tbsp (disolved first) into your tank.
Feed him high quality foods including some frozen brine shrimp and blood worms to help with tail regrowth.

You might want to go ahead and test for pH and hardness. I'm sure it isn't what is causing his fin rot, but spring water can be surprisingly hard.

You should lower the temperature back down to 80F. Normally the only time you should raise the water temperature is if he has an external parasite like Velvet or Ick.

My betta had fin rot awhile ago and I use Jungle Fungus Clear and it worked great. One tablet will treat 10 gallons so you'll have to cut it in half for a 5 gallon tank.

go to the fish section in a pet store like Pet Smart or Pet Supermarket and talk to a fish specialist. They can tell you better what kind of treatment you should use and might give you some better tips on how to take care of it.

Bring the temperature back down to about 78*. Also you want to go to your local pet store and pick up some medicine to treat him. I would recommend Life Guard it works great and covers a variety of things.

i use maracyn and maracyn2 in combination and it usually stops after the first treatment but you need to go with 5 days still.
