So, I can bring up yahoo, MSN, hotmail, myspace, geocaching.com, my bank information and well clearly, yahoo answers but not Google or gmail. I did a web search and it seems they lost a pretty big case in Belgium today and they have to remove all Belgium links or be fined big time (which I guess could cause them to close it for a bit). I was wondering if the site is down for everyone, if there's any idea of when it might be back up, what has caused the crash (taking down Belgium sites?) or, alternatively, if it's just me...I figure it's not just me since I can access other frequently updating sites :P Still though, thought I'd ask here to see.

I tried deleting my cookies, passwords and temp internet files in both Firefox and IE. I normally use Firefox unless I'm looking at a site that doesn't support it. Because I sometimes do view sites that don't work well Firefox I tried cleaning both out and did an adaware run, still not working....poo this sucks. =\ Didn't expect it to be a problem with my own system since I can access everything else. Also Firefox says "Cannot find server at www.google.com" how lame...need to get my email *sigh*

Well, it looks like their server is just down for my office building/area. Had some other people in my office suite and the suite across the hall check. We all have access to frequently updating sites (i.e. news sites, other emails, etc.), but just not Google's server. Oh well...hopefully they get it fixed soon. Thanks for the heads up on the computer clean out though, the machine definitely needed it and if it were my specific machine, I imagine that would have done the trick :)

try deleting all your cookies.

right click on internet explorer and click on properties.

or you can open internet explorer, and click on internet options under the tools menu.

Should be a delete cookies button.

Also, erase the internet temp files.

..........

You can also run an anti spyware program just to make sure that it is not a spyware trying to block access.
Good/free program is adaware.

good luck.

The issue with Google in Belgium is only for caching content of sites, not links on the sites. Content providers often charge for content but Google had been caching storing a copy of the content local to the Google servers and providing the ability to see that content without paying for access. Granted that the content is a historical cache but much of the content isn't changing on a regular basis. The Belgium ruling requires that Google remove the cache upon request from the content owner or face penalties. This would not affect your access to Google in other regions and shouldn't affect your access in Belgium, unless you try to access the removed cached content.

It keeps happening all the time now. Gets from bad to worse and you can't use it for long without problems. I was trying to watch a film and it's gone off again. What a pain.
