You just have to keep calling around. I got one about 2 weeks ago. It took me a day of checking around stores, and I finally hit on Costco, which had them in a 2 game bundle for about $330 (worth it). Keep calling Target, WalMart, EB Games, and Gamestop. One of them will tell you when their next shipment might come in. Shouldn't cost you more than $250 for the console.

Do NOT import a foreign unit. Nintendo decided to keep their consoles region locked which means if you import one, you can only use games from the region the system was originally sold in which sucks if it happens to be Japan and all the dialogue is in Japanese and you don't read or understand it. Importing consoles and games also costs money. Shipping from overseas isn't cheap, so you'll still end up paying through the nose for it. You are going to have to camp out the night before a store in your area opens with units in stock. I got one on Jan. 21 at the Best Buy near my house by camping out. Check the Best Buy website on Saturday nights. They usually change the online sales circular between midnight and 3AM. If the new Sunday circular advertises that they will have Wii in stock, then you have to head out there right away. You'll be out there until they open the next morning, usually around 10 or 11 AM, so bring something to do so you aren't too bored. They start handing out numbers about an hour before the doors open, so be sure you are near the front of the line before that happens. Don't turn up 15 minutes before they open thinking you are going to get one, because it will all be over by then. You can also check the Target and Circuit City websites as they use the same sales circular viewer/updater software on their sites. Target opens at 8AM (near me anyway) so you'll have to get there even earlier than Best Buy. If you aren't willing to make the commitment to camp out for one, you're probably not going to get one for a long time.

Oh, and for the person who said the frenzy is over, guess again. There were 50 people lined up outside my local Best Buy by 8AM on Jan 21 and there were only 48 units in stock. Counting all the people who turned up too late to get one and were turned away, there were over 100. If your butt isn't parked in front of a retailer in the wee hours of the morning when they go on sale, you're not getting one.

The Wii does not cost $600. The 60gb version of the Playstation 3 does. If you actually meant Wii, then just buy it from a retailer (omg retail! duh >.>) like Wal-Mart or Target or GameStop, once they get back in stock for the retail price of $249.99. If you meant PS3, then there is a 20gb version that is $500 retail. You can't find any lower than that unless you buy a used one.

here is what you do. its what i did and i got a wii three days after christmas. make a list of about 10 numbers of stores in your local area. like bestbuy, target, circuit city, and wallmart. i would stay away from gamestops because they usually only get a couple at a time. bestbuy gets the most. call the stores every morning and become a pest. who cares. its their job to take calls. and as soon as a store gets a shipment, run up and pick one up. when i got mine, bestbuy got 18, and i was up there at 1030 and the already sold 10. but now, the frenzy is over so if you call in the morning and they got them, chances are you will have enough time to go up and get one. hope this helped. good luck
