As a rule.

1St. degree in India is MB BS. 2Nd degree is MD or MS.

In USA. for most part non of the degrees from outside the country are recognised now a days, with few exceptions and in few states they will give probationary licence for a year or so.

The path in USA is Baccalaureate degree in any field but must have certain prerequisites subject taken at this level, MCAT exam must be taken. Admission to the medical college is based on score for this two Qualification plus an oral exam by a panel of professors at each college, that you are applying. If admitted it takes minimum 4 year to get MD.

Each year the competition is very furious and increasing, 5% of the aspiring student will get the admission, and 25% of the student will drop out of medical college at various stages and for various reasons. Percentages can vary from time to time, year to year.

Tuition fee is very high. Loans are available, at going rates. Scholarships are also available but most have to take some loan or have the family to support them.

Only two schools take students after the1st year of college but competition is unbelievable. In this case it takes about 6 years to do MD after High school, High school takes, 12 years plus KG.

MD does not allow a person to practice medicine, you have internships and in some decipline it may take, 7 to 10 years of it. The you have to pas various exams.

Now you can be on your own but most join some groups, to support each other and provide coverage, during sickness vacation, other emergency.....
