I had a dream once about a human who was able to completelly control another human through telepathy...thought that might be a start for a sci fi film

Any good science fiction film needs a good solid male lead (Harrison Ford in Blade Runner, Bruce Willis in Fifth Element) and a stunning female love interest (e.g. Sean Young in Blade Runner). Add to this lots of gut wrenching suspense (e.g. Alien, The Thing) and a jump out of your seat moment (such as in Jurassic Park). '8 Days Later' proved that you can produce a sci-fi classic without a big budget or big stars, its all about having a good premise. I reckon you couldn't go far wrong with basing story around a character that is a cross between Han Solo and Jack Bauer - a tough ladies man who makes his living out of dispensing with bad aliens.

Here's my idea:
There's this young boy who's been left on his Uncle's space farm not realising that his father was once an important jed....er.....plumber. It's only when an old man wearing a sack tells him about his father that he realises the best way to save the universe from all the bad plumbers is to take advice from a tiny little muppet who, along with the old man in a sack, doesn't bother to tell him that having sex with your twin sister wouldn't be a good idea.
What do you think? You can have it free of charge. Ok, it's a silly idea but I wouldn't go telling George Lucas.

Maybe a time traveler (similar to Doctor Who, but a regular guy or gal who does this for a living) who goes through time to fix mistakes or stop something bad from happening, etc. They have a normal life back in their time, but they travel to the future or past and sometimes they get stuck or nearly die...but they always make it through. They meet lots of cool people, aliens, etc.

I think a theme with good versus eveil or the dark side versus the light side, and the guy winning the love of the girl. Asimov is good.

There is always the old time travel bit, the out of control computer or android & the one who constantly thinks that he can play god.
Read a few Harlan Ellison stories...
