Be careful. Very often universities charge higher fees to overseas students because they don't get any government funding support for them.
Maybe if you had relatives to live with rent free etc., it would be cheaper in living costs (the general cost of living is certainly cheaper in Australia) but that might be cancelled out by fees and air fares.
Another approach would be to see if you could go on a year's study abroad with your chosen degree course.
However if your sole objective in wanting to go to Australia is simply because it might save you money as opposed to staying at home I would urge caution. To live and study anywhere, home and abroad, you must want to be on the course and want to live wherever it is you study. Or else it could end in dissapointment and/or disaster.

No, because you will have to pay foreign student fees and they are a lot higher than the fees you have to pay in the uk. Also, think about what are you going to do after you graduate - are you going to come back to the UK? If so, it will be more difficult to get a job as you may be passed over for a graduate with a uk degree.
