it can. but NOT in a bad way.
if you cover one (or both) eye(s) for about 1-3 hours, you sensitivity to light in that eye will increase. i don't know how it works, but it does.
When i was young, i cut my eye-lense and had to where an eye-patch for two weeks.
when i took the eye-patch off, eveything was so bright in that eye that i had to squint in normal, and low-level lighting.
if i turned out the lights, and closed the curtains, i could see perfectly. yet when i closed my "night vision eye", i could hardly see a thing.
it's actually kinda cool when you go night-time airsofting or paintballing. :-)

Actually, being blindfolded for that long wouldn't impair your vision; on the contrary it would make it better, for a short while at least. I can't remember the science behind it, but whenever your eye is covered for an amount of time, it becomes more sensitive to light; this is the reason pirates wore eyepatches - so they could see at night. You can experience this in small part by going outside at night and, making sure there aren't any bright lights anywhere (moonlight is great), cover one eye for four minutes. When you uncover it, things will appear much more clearly through that eye than the one that was left uncovered.

No, your vision will not be effect. but experiments have been done that have shown that people do start going crazy and hallucinating after a couple days under a blindfold.

no, it is just like closing your eyes. Nothing happens if you keep your eyes closed for long periods of time.

Why yes, you wouldn't be able to see for the duration.
Other than that, I doubt it.
