Opening a website for free used to be an extremely easy task, however, now your options are not at all great. There are plenty of free website hosting services out on the net, however most of them put all sorts of ads on your pages and limit the amount of bandwidth you can use in a specific time period. The ads look tacky, and most internet users expect a certain amount of professionalism when it comes to businesses posting online. If you do go the free route, most of them also give you free web design through use of templates and similar tools. My recommendation though, is that if this is a serious business endeavor, spend a little money for a year's worth of website hosting with a reputable company. This will not only give you more freedom, but will also look professional. You can even have your own .com website address. I hope this helps you.

Getting a web page on the internet is only the first step, just so you know. But it is the easiest step none the less. I would suggest something like www.godaddy.com. For something like $5 a month you can use one of their pre-set themes and have a site up in no time. In addition they have loads of stock images, advise, ect, ect. I built my site there, www.architectwindowfilms.com, and it was a snap. Check out my site, just for comparison, it costs me something like $10 a month but I have multiple pages and loads of email.
But, just having a page on the internet won't do you any good. How will anyone ever find your site? This is the most difficult part and the most time consuming. It is far too detailed for me to go into in any depth, but, you will have to let other sites, advertisers, whomever, know that you have a site and where it is located. The search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN, ect won't just happen by your page any time soon. In fact, even with proper design and optimization it could take months for your site to show up in search listings. You will need to do quite a bit of research into how to do this, all of which you can find readily on the internet.
So, whether or not you find a "free" page or not, that won't help you, unless you just need a free personal page to send friends to. In addition you will probably need to advertise the site, and just like advertising a local brick and mortar business, it costs money. One simple ad I opted for cost over $500 for a year, others are free if you know how to do it. But again, you will need to research this in depth.
I hope you find this to be helpful and good luck.
