if the man arrested (the uncle, allegedly) is the one who sexually assaulted and murdered the two year old toddler (in the news today) should wardens become deaf and blind when he arrives in prison, i.e.let the inmates carry out their own justice. If ever there was a reason for the death penalty this has to be one of the worst crimes i have ever heard in my life.

J H - 'horrendous' crimes are ever increasing because the law is soft on criminals and hard on those who dare to fight back. If prison really did mean being incarcerated then maybe i might agree, but prison doesnt scare does it and life doesnt mean life either.

now it's official, uncle has been charged with RAPE and MURDER of a toddler. I weep for the child. And still the do-gooders/ bleeding hearts army want to see 'his' side and find something to excuse this disgusting, sickening and evil crime.

As a mother myself, I can't begin to describe what my feelings would be against any man who hurt one of my children. The fact that it was a family member leaves me dumbfounded.
As for looking the other way if other prisoners tried to punish this man, unfortunately, we come back to prisoner's rights and having to protect the offender at all costs.
If anything should happen to this murdering monster, who would get the blame, definitely not the other prisoners. It would be the poor prison guards, why, because they didn't look after the defenceless little prisoner. Sickening isn't it?
Cases like this always disgust me. Why we did away with capital punishment defeats me. The people who commit crimes like this, paedophiles, rapists, terrorists, murderers etc, have demonstrated that they have no place in a decent society and do not deserve to live.
Consequently, the punishment should be hanging. Rather than being short of prison space, we could probably close two or three, and just think how much money would be saved and could be transferred to the NHS or Education. Both more deserving causes then child killers.
I don't think it's a coincidence that when hanging was abolished, the types of crimes committed in this country became more violent and more frequent.

There is only one answer to someone like this (if he did it) and it isn't prison. In prison, he will have a life of unadulterated luxury (and yes, they WILL keep him away from the general population as much as possible - take a look at Huntley). And he will be free in 15 years, because he will argue that to hold him any longer is an infringement of his human rights! Where is the punishment or justice in that?
I have a better idea - I (and men who feel the way I do about things like this) will take the paedophiles, child murderers and child abusers off the CPSs hands - I'm sure we can guarantee that they will never be - *ahem* - free to commit these crimes again...... if you know what I mean.
Oh... just checked the police have a 36 hour extension for questioning....
Edit: so they've charged the f**ker have they? Let's just forget about the soft courts, bleeding heart Court of Human Rights and everybody who says the f**ker has rights (what about the little girl's rights - like the right to live!), just give him to me, I'll show him what justice is about!

I find it interesting how many so called civilised people are so disgusted and appalled by what this guy did (if it was the uncle) that they are happy to resort to behaving in a similar way to him because to wish violence on him means you are operating at his level.
It doesn't matter what the crime is the only way we can remain civilised is to always be above resorting to the same vile behaviour that mirrors the crime that has been committed.
The sentence in our society is prison and perhaps if given life it should mean life but take a look at yourselves if you are advocating letting other prisoners mete out whatever form of punishment they want. It won't bring the child back and it will mean you have the same debased morals of whoever did this.
You might feel better but you will have totally lost the moral high ground.

this was a brutal crime. Why if when someone is convicted of such a crime can they not be chemically castrated or even physically? Yes it does seem like going back to the dark ages but the right of the citizen must overrule the rights of the individual criminal. Turning a blind eye in prison may well make us feel better because we know the criminal is getting a kicking but he will be released one day (knowing the law in this country prob in a few years) and the danger will be on the streets again.
I think we should eliminate the will of these people to re offend these disgusting crimes.

Hold it right there. In English Law the presumption of innocence is how we must approach this and any other case which may be brought before the courts. We must be most careful also in what we say before any trial, even here on Yahoo Answers. A sharp lawyer could argue in court that what has been published about his client could result in an unfair trial.
To answer your original question - NO, prison warders should not simply turn a blind eye. To do so is to be party to a brutality which could result in the murder of the convicted felon.
What usually happens in the case of child murderers is that they are separated from other prisoners and kept in a wing with prisoners of their own kind.

Yes 100%, having a two year old myself the person who done this is in my opinion should receive an automatic death sentance but seeing as we are supposed to live in a fair justice system he will probably be out before he is an old man. Prison is too good for this animal and my heart goes out to the little girls family.

A good question. Jesus said 'suffer the little children to come unto me if anyone harms a child it would be better if that person had not been born' These are strong words from one who is the author of life. So yes, if we do not take action to stop theses horrifying murder, then we are guilty also. They should bring back the death penalty, for horrendous crimes against the innocent.

Those people who say that prisons are like holiday camps, obviously have never set foot inside one, so therefore they should shut their mouths before opening them with crap such as that.
At the moment, the uncle hasn't been found guilty yet, so therefore in the eyes of the law, he's innocent until proven guilty - balls i know. There's no such thing as 'innocent until proven guilty', i can vouch for that.
Once he is sentenced, then yes, feel free to put him on the same wing as 'regular crooks', but this won't happen, as no doubt he will be put on Rule 43(protection) and put in isolation for his own safety, and some prisons even have a special wing just for Schedule 1 offenders.
People mention mobile phones that are in prisons. This is NOT legal, believe me. They, like drugs etc, get sneaked in a number of ways, including catapulted over the wall. In women's prisons, things can be brought in and out whilst hidden where the sun don't shine. That also happens in mens prisons, drugs are hidden up the jacksie and forced out later when needed.
23-hour lock up is also no 'luxury'. Any 'luxuries' such as soap, shampoo, shower gel, tobacco etc, are bought once a week with their pittance earned doing various jobs around the prison, such as in the workshops etc. Red bands get a bit more.

no they should not turn a blind eye.
first of all do not think in any way do I condone or defend this hideous act.
but we would be making the guards judge jury and executioners of a viligante style anarchic system. and where would that stop?
everyone seems to forget, are we really asking for OTHER criminals (some of whom are very dangerous) to exact our vengance? you would willingly condone rapists, armed armed robbers, drug dealers and murdedrs becuase one horrific case has been brought to the public eye?
some responses seem to actively encourage "mob lynching" and would thank them for doing it. but what about their crimes, they go forgotten for 5 minutes while they carry out the punishment?
lets not forget that there is a reason they are in prison too!
the bigger question is, do we think our justice system is competent enough to try, sentence, punish and rehabilitate our most serious offenders?
I think we all agree on the answer there!

Yes, i fully agree.
But it raises a sad question that the criminals will make him pay more for what he did than the actual lawin this country.
Prison is no longer feared its more like a holiday camp for sex offenders and rapists. A poor little girl has been murdered and sexually abused yet the 'law' in this country will send him to our joke of a prison service that includes lush roomsfor long servers, ping pong, wide screen t.v's, is this punishment?
A man kills a baby and this is his punishment, the countrys a mess. The law is a mess.
Its disgusting,
