Take a look at yesterday's shootings. It is becoming common place to read of someone taking a gun and going out shooting folks.

Bowling for Columbine examined why we are so quick to go to guns in the US. Canada has as many or more guns per person. The answer was the media does its best to convince us that the world is dangerous and we all need to have a gun ready. "If it bleeds, it leads" is the media's take. Further, we have kids playing video games that teach violence as fun, realistic "first person shooter" games that teach how to aim and fire. Most players become pretty good shots.

So, dismiss this movie at your own peril. I think it examines a real issue. More security is not the solution, nor is everyone packing heat.

I am a Vietnam veteran, a gun owner, and a Progressive.

It´s a good, witty and very successful film. OK, there are moments when it´s biased and could be criticized for overplaying the themes, but there are hardly any films/documentaries that don´t do this, and those that stick 100% to an objective truth are so dry that no-one bothers watcing them anyway. It´s polemical and provocative, that´s the idea; it´s meant to stimulate discussion and get people talking and sharing ideas/disagreements etc., not be taken as a sort of religious text that you follow word for word. If you´re interested in similar movies (that DARE to criticize their own country, hehe, heaven forbid...) "Memoria del Saqueo" from Argentina is very good, also "Viva Zapatero" from Italy and "Hay Motivo!" from Spain.

Michael Moore's a jerk. He is not trying to "tell it like it is, he is trying to get rich by slandering the USA" and thanks to people like you he is doing it. Moore produces FICTION and panders it as fact, just like the tabloids.
