Sure. It's entirely possible to create one's own sense of morality or ethics by which to live. Society assumes there is a common moral code that is inherently correct. But that's not true. Perception shapes reality, and if one truly believes something to be true it can become "reality" for that person.

Happens all the time, every second in every day. Usually it's an emotional reaction that causes us to think and behave a certain way solely for our own benefit. To think like this, is, beneficial and is a necessity to survive in our hyper competitive society. Every which way you turn and look, you must compete. And to compete well you must be able to talk yourself into anything.
