I was in the Army and loved it. I don't fully support this war we are in right now, but full heartedly support our troops. I hope that people that don't support the war at least support our men and women over there.

I think it is important to realize that soldiers have to do what they are told, regardless of the cause. Its difficult to say you support the troops but not the cause because that undermines morale. But a soldier is not given a choice as to how they are to be used.

There isn't one red blooded American who does not support the troops. That is not the question or the point. Don't get confused by the Republicans who would like everyone to think that if you do not support the war,you do not support the troops.
That is just political rhetoric to downplay the fact that the Republicans have monetary interest in our troops being there in the Middle East and Afghanistan. Big Money and Big Business interest have a lot to do with the fact that the Republicans have vested interest in continuing this war.
My own nephew,my sister's boy,is training now in the Army, and he will be deployed sometime in June of this year. This is not "our" war, meaning this war is not an American war,but it is a war being fought between religious zealots and extremist that has been going on for thousands of years.
We as Americans have been cajoled into this war under false pretenses of weapons of mass destruction that were never found in Iraq and the current administration had even admitted to this blunder. Sercurity of our nation is of utmost importance and could not have been more illustrated by the 9/11 attacks on our homefront .
All the terrorist on those planes were from Saudia Arabia, not Iraq, and the last time I checked the Saudi's are supposed to be our friends.Well with freinds like that ,who needs enemies.
I think that the vested business interest of our politicians need to be looked at more closely, and I find it interesting that all of Osama Bin Laden's relatives that were living here in the United States were flown out of the country for "free" ,when the rest of the nation was still in "fly down" grounded mode immediatly after 9/11.
The Bush family and Cheney's family has vested business interest in Saudia Arabia which clouded the decision making process of the reasons why this country has immersed intself into this quagmire.I think it is very sad there are American soldiers who are now spending time in jail ,because they are being accused of abusing and/or killing which what they thought were the enemy.
The current enemy has no "face". How were these young men and women to know who is the enemy and who are friendlies.
I am sure you had similar difficulty in the Middle East region trying to determine who are the enemy and who are the friendlies.
In my opinion they all look alike, including Iranians. That is not a racist comment either,it is just a simple fact. There has been not enough sufficient intelligence to determine :
1. Who is the enemy
2. Where are the enemy forces that we are supposed to be fighting.
I think that once this is determined and sufficient information is supplied to "our troops",the reasons why we are in this war will be more clear and more people will support our efforts in this war.
All Americans support the troops, just not the reasons why we are wasting our troops lives and resources for a cause that is not crystal clear .

i do not support this war one bit, but i do support the solidiers. our soldiers are people who are doing all the dirty work for the rest of us and deserve every bit of praise. If you are an american you have to support the troops even though you dont support the war because the troops are the ones risking their lives so that we can have liberty. Its like if someone risks their lives to save you the least you can do is help them back. These people who dont support the troops are the sorry asses that wouldnt mind getting a hand when they need it but would never give a hand if someone else is in need.

A house divided against itself cannot stand, nor a country. I not only support our troops I support our country in this war. And I support our commander-in-chief. There is no honorable or safe way to get out of this without dealing with it as thoroughly as is possible to us. This is not the only threat posed--Iran is a huge threat to the stability of the Middle East. If we leave they will take Iraq over. They have already tried once. North Korea poses a huge threat on the Pacific front to the peace of all free nations in the Asian sphere. And don't be fooled. They will be backed by China and Russia in any endeavour. China will back North Korea if for no other reason than to divert the resources of the free world so that they can take over Taiwan.

Each of these islands in the Pacific, represent militarily the strength of a huge aircraft carrier. So the freedom of all the Pacific islands is a necessity.

If America does not begin to realize the depth and the difficulty of the threats against us then our waffling and in-fighting and divisiveness are going to weaken us to the point where we will no longer be America.

Yes. I support the troops, my country, and my President.
And let no one foster treason in this land.

While I am completely against the war, I certainly support our troops and wish them a speedy return home. It is so frustrating when I am accused of not supporting our troops when I say that I don't support the war. My argument is this: Who supports our troops more, those who hastily and unneccessarily put them in harms way, or those who wish to keep them home unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary to send them off to war?

I think you will be hard pressed to find Americans who don't support the troops. Most of us just don't support the war.

Why are people upset at 3000 of them killed, and want to keep more alive? If I was trying to keep you alive, wouldn't that be supporting you?

Some people are trying to muddy the waters, saying that disagreeing with the President's foreign policy was disrespecting the troops. It's really the opposite.

Why does our President care so little for our sons and daughters that he's ordering them to get in between the factions of a civil war? I suspect that he just doesn't have any compassion to spare on them. I wonder how he would feel if his daughters were over there?

Of course we support the troops! Every day that we see that a young service person has been kill or wounded, is hard to take! They don't belong there but we know that they must do as told, so how could we possibly not support them.
The American people, most notably the anti-war protesters, during the Vietnam war, must surely be ashamed of what they did to those brave young people who served. I never believed in that war either, but I had respect for the ones who served, I had two sons who served in that conflict, they were just doing their duty, like it or not!

I support our troops! right now it doesn't matter why we are at war anymore, we screwed and its too late. right now we just have to finish the job right, or else, it will bite us in the A$$ on our own soil again. I support our troops fighting to protect our rights and the rights of the iraqi people.

First of all--thank you for your service to our country.

I oppose this war--but so do most Americans. And virtually all Americans support the troops, regardless. To me--and other Americans who believe this war is wrong, not to actively voice our opposition would be abetrayal of the troops--because to ask them to risk their lives when it is not justified would be an outright betrayal of our men and women in uniform.

Please don't be mislead by those who use smear tactics and lies in an effort to discredit those of us who oppose the war. When you hear and see comments that those who oppose this war don't care about the troops--it is an outright lie. We do--and the best way we can show that support is to do everything we can to get the troops out of a war they should not have been a sked to fight in the first place--before more American lives are lost for nothing.
