My best friend helped me out by registering & putting my car on her insurance so that I had a vehicle after my very terrible divorce. I promised her I would always pay the bill & DID! ALWAYS! Recently I went to put the car in my own name & my own insurance because I could afford to do so - she was happy because now she could something she wanted with her insurance to save some cash. Now u always pay the month's insurance a month in advance & we were taking turns alternating months (her request) & even though my portion was smaller - I did not mind as she had done this favor for me. I paid Oct., she paid Nov. - meaning Dec was paid & I was taking the car off effective 1/2/07. Well she never made "her" Dec. payment and got notice in Jan. that she owed the DMV over $150 & called me and wants me to pay for it even though her insurance company explained it to her - she says she thought I was paying December & thats why. Am I missing something here or is she wrong?

honey if it's the lesser of the trouble just pay it unless you have the payment schedule written down to prove your point. assess what the friendship means and if it's worth it. if you descide the friendship is worth saving, just remember NEVER EVER do business w/ her again where money is concerned. i had a really close friend who did me dirty and well we just speak in passing now but if she's really ur friend she wouldn't be playing games. i would talk to her a/b it and try to resolve things may she got confused and or just didn't have the money anyway i hope it works out. never mix money and friendship. it's the kiss of death for a friendship and always het it in writing when dealing w/ friends and relatives they will screw u over before a stranger will. take care.

talk to her and reason with her, but be willing to let it go and pay. She's not out to get you, just experiencing financial stress like you were. Help her out.
