not all will, but newer ones most likely will. this is all assumptions, so take my answer lightly. they probably have a ROM chip or flash memory installed (just like a computer) which stores configuration settings and the time. it takes a very small amount of voltage to store these settings so the onboard battery can supply enough power to keep it charged for months at a time. just like your computer remembers all of it's settings after you have had it off for a day or two.

You are confusing DVD players with recorders.
There is no need for DVD players to know what time is it and there is no reliable way for them to find it out automatically.

DVD recorders need time info to schedule recordings.

DVD recorders, if connected to cable or antenna, can use time information from the PBS channel to set up their clock automatically.

Only time will tell. (I'm curious, when you take it out of the box, is it 12: o'clock?) They may have the atomic clock in them. That's all I can figure.

if you got it at a store that allows returns and doesn't display it as "used" and could of set it
