I own all 3, and they're each great in their own way.
The wii is simply put, the greatest system I've ever played, but it's not really "video games" in the traditional sense. It's much more active, much more involving, and a hell of a lot of fun for groups of people. The downside is that the controllers get pricey since you need a remote and a nunchuck which comes to around 60 bucks. However, I feel it's worth it, so that call is up to you.
The XBOX360 has got the strongest line-up of games for any system at the moment, so it's easy to say "get that" since it's also easier to get a hold of then the wii. However, everything is more expensive than the wii too, the system is 150 more, the games are 10 more a piece, and eventually that starts to add up. Also, it can play DVDs and CDs which the Wii can't.
The Playstation 3 is cool, it's just at the moment it doesn't have anything that warrants spending so much cash on it. None of the games are really original and great, so I'd advise waiting until the library of games grow and the price drops.
Hope that helps.

I would go for a 360. The Xbox 360 has been out on the market for a while now, so the bugs have been worked out of it. I have seen comparisons of the PS3 and the 360, and the graphics look much better on the 360.
I find the 360s controller design to be more user friendly and comfortable.
The 360 has a well established library of games, with more to come, like Halo 3. It also has rights for Forza Motorsport. From what I have heard, it also has the best online gaming experience.
The Wii is also a good choice. It is different than the other systems with it's innovative controller and "channels" The channels let you have a web browser, weather forecast, news, photo editing, Miis, and a place for downloaded classic games. It is great for parties and get togethers. There are good games, and it can even double as a workout! Wii Sports can get tiring! :-P
The PS3 has too many problems and is lacking games. I have heard horror stories on launch about systems dead on arrival, dying, and freezing. A $600 system should not do that. I would wait until the bugs get worked out for a PS3.
So yeah, of the three, go for the 360! You won't be disappointed!

Personally, i have the 360 and wii and love them both and my friend has the PS3.
Right now, the 360 has a clear advantage because its been out for a while and has a much better selection of games than either one and in the future, Halo 3 will come out and be awesome.
The best value for the money is actually the PS3 even though it costs the most. Its the most pwerful system and comes with a Blue-Ray player. Its costs about half of what you would pay for a stand alone blue ray player and a 360. But if next gen dvds dont interest you at all, then the PS3 becomes extremely overpriced for you. Sure, PS3 games will be on blue ray discs as opposed to DVDs for 360, but the only noticable advantage will be longer, more impressive cut scenes between gamelay.
Like, i said, right now the advantage of 360 over the other 2 is a fairly impressive game library as well as a huge number of online gamers. This is really where the 360 outshines either system.
As far as the wii goes, its a little unfair to try to compare it to the other two because its so different. Basically, its a multiplayer system. It has a few good one-player games (ie zelda, and then metroid and mario galaxy in the future) but it will make its name for itself with its multiplayer titles.
If are going to play a majority of your video games with your firends, then absolutely get the wii. Its really not even a debate. But if you are going to mostly play one player, first-person shooter types, youre gonna have to decide if the PS3s blue-ray player is worth the extra money. Id say that right now the 360 is a much safer bet. It already has a legendary title (Gears of War) and Halo 3 will blow away anything weve seen to date.

I have both a 360 and a Wii and it is a good combination. I don't like PS3 because it costs too much and most of the cross platform games, which is most of the games out for PS3 right now, look the same or better on 360. You won't see many AAA exclusive games out for PS3 for at least a year, so there really isn't any reason to buy one until then. Sony also has a long way to go to get their online service up to speed. Microsoft has the best, but Nintendo isn't doing too badly with theirs, either. You will have better game coverage for less money with a Wii/360 combination than with a PS3 alone. Buy your cross platform games on 360 because they look better, and buy all the Nintendo exclusives, plus with all the downloadables from both online services, you really can't lose. Go Wii60!!

Xbox 360 has been around the longest, has the most games. However, they are about to do a major update (reducing the size of the processor which will lower the heat and therefore the fan noise (it may also have the HD DVD built in).
PS3 is the most expensive, has Bluray and is too new to really have ideas of how long it will be around and how well the games will mature.
Wii is the same as above except it is not HD and is the cheapest of the lot. Wii is unique in the controller scheme but the games that really shine in this are coming out slowly.

I have such a freaking great time with my new Wii, and everyone else wants to play it. Even my MOM who is extremely techno-phobic is interested in it.
The 360 is a mini computer, and they have some solid games coming out for it. It depends: if you're interested more in graphics, get the 360. If you're interested in gameplay, by all means, get a Wii.
What's disappointing about the 360 is you don't really know what you're getting. Microsoft is changing the components and formula ALL the time. As a result, they've had several recalls, and the components are extremely expensive. The Wii has had one recall, yes, but it was just for the string that connects your controller to your wrist.

If I was to choose it would be (01) Xbox 360 (02) Nintendo Wii
(03) PS3
(01) Good library and great games continue to arrive
(02) Fun to play with big classic game libary
(03) Great System, Great big price
I have no problems with the 360 and have been playing Gears of War, FEAR, the Godfather and Lost Planet.

I got both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 and I would say if you can get both do it.
Xbox360 has a great online service XBL Gold and it is very user friednly and lets you multitask (play your own music, chat with friends, and play games at the same time). I wish the Hard Drive would be bigger the 20GB though
PS3 is a powerhouse with a good drive (60GB like mine), built wireless adapter, plays PS and PS2 games, and some great potetial games coming out for it. However their online (PSN) is mediocre and pathetic. You cannot even multitask. I hope Sony fixes this.

Since the Wii is the next gen console, go with that one.. as for the 360, while I was at Best Buy yesterday, a guy came in to exchange one, and he told me it was the second one he'd had to replace, and that he'd heard that others were having problems with them too..
