The chance of FRATERNAL twins lies on the mother's side of the family. There is an increased chance you will have FRATERNAL twins since it has happened frequently in your family. Only the woman controls the two eggs dropping causing this too happen not the man
When I went in for an ultrasound the doctor was only interested in if I had twins in MY family because it has NOTHING to do with the husbands side
Identical Twins happen by chance and has nothing to do with either side of the family
I have heard arguments on both sides if generations are affected or not

Twins are determined by the mom's genes, not the dad. That being said, twins can be a result of many things 1) twins really do run in your genes and you may be the one nature has chosen to continue the run with (my co-workers sister had twins, she thinks its because of this) 2) fertility treatments can create multiple births (depends on the type of treatment you seek) 3) its a fluke of nature and you get twins (my friend just had twins a month ago; she is the first in her family, to her knowledge, to ever have them). Good luck on your future baby(ies)! :)

Well if twins run in your family then yes there could be a possiblity of you having twin, but I also want to share with you a little of my family history. Ok My greatgrandfather on my dads side was the only single birth of 13 children. His mother dilivered 2 sets of triplets and 3 sets of twins, and he or any of his siblings never had multiples, my grandfather never had them, and neither did his children, my generation has just started with children so I cant say none of us had them. Then you come over to my moms side of the family my grandfather was a twin, and he had an older set of brothers that was twins. Still yet here we are 3 generations later with no multiples. Well wait let me take that back my half sister was pregnant with twins and lost one. So I guess that counts, but she is my half sister with my mom so she only got "the chance of multiples" from her side. I am the oldest of the 2 sides of the family and I am now pregnant with my 2nd child. I go in on the 22nd for an ultrasound so I cant say for sure if I am going to get them this time, but my chances are the same as they were with my daughter. I hope I made some kind of sense with all of this rambling, but I just wanted you to know that even though they run in your family doesnt mean that you will have them. There is the chance, but there is the chance with every pregnancy of having multiples...

I have always been concerned about that because my granny WAS a twin and the family had always said that same thing. It runs in the women and 3rd generation.
Well, when I asked my Dr. when I was pregnant with my second child, he said it was just an old wives tale and something fun for families to talk about. He said if they are identical your chances could be higher, but in reality you have the same chance of having twins if it is in your family, or not.

Good possibility, twins skip every two generations in my family (both mom and dads side). I was the lucky one so far to have twins in the every two generations saga. But this is typically a maternal gene thing. It comes from the maternal sides of mom and dad. In my case, my fathers grandmother on moms side was a twin and my mothers grandmother on moms side was. I got a double whammy.

Having fraternal twins runs on the mothers factor. I had fraternal twins a million boy and a million lady and the well-being care provider mentioned it grew to become into via fact I released greater beneficial than a million egg for the time of ovulation. It has no longer something to do with the guy, it basically occurs that there grew to become into 2 eggs released that have been given fertilized via 2 seperate sperm. something is attainable. basically permit mom nature take its direction and pray for a wholesome infant or little ones if God blesses you with greater beneficial than one.

Not necessarily. I have heard of women who had twins and their ancestors never had twins and the reverse is also true. Don't be bored. If you do end up having twins, it would be a double blessing.
