That is completely normal, unless you have a special circumstance and as long as everything is fine with you there is no logical reason for the doctor to need to see you any sooner than the 2 week appt. that they originally made for you.

Not unusual. I had to wait four weeks for my first appoinment, and many OBs make you wait until you are 8 weeks for the first visit.
As long as you don't have bleeding and/or cramping, then you will most likely remain pregnant.
Quite frankly, there is nothing they can do to stop a miscarriage if you were to begin having one. But don't think about it or worry about it. You will be fine. Pregnancy is a long long waiting game.
To learn more about what you should/should not be eating and doing, read the book, "What to Expect When You're Expecting." Gives a good pregnancy eating program, and tells what to look for, what's normal, etc. Excellent resource. Being well-informed is very important.

Some doctors don't like to see you until you are at least 8 weeks. "what to expect when expecting" say 8-12 weeks is the norm. My family dr. prescribed me my prenatal pills, if you can't get that then just buy some over the counter. You will be fine. Hpt's are accurate 99% of the time. I am sure you are pregnant. Just enjoy and eat healthy and do lots of reading that's what I did. Congrats!!!

Usually they want you to wait until you are 10 weeks pregnant. That way you are sure you are pregnant and you are almost done with the first trimester which is the hardest part. I waited until I was 13 weeks with my third son - it was better - they could hear the heartbeat and also we did an ultrasound.
Just hang in there. Pregnancy is long enough and you will be sick of going to the Dr. by the time you are done.

Have you visited this doctor's office before?
Usually what happens is that previous "customers" of that doctor's office get priority in appointments. If you live in a big city, there should be tons more Dr's offices. Try calling around if you want to know sooner.
If you've already been there before, then I'm not sure what the deal is
Is this a gynocologists office or regular Dr's office?
But don't forget to cancel your appt. w/ the other Dr.'s office if you get a sooner appt - just to be nice.

They only start pre-natal visits at a certain point so there is no sense in doing it early most of the time. The earliest most see someone is 8 weeks and some even later.

I found out I was pregnant at around 5 weeks....but my OBGYN (and most OBGYN's) don't see you until 8-10 weeks...they don't do a confirmation of pregnancy...they asked if I took a home test and I said "yes" and they said that's all you need to do.
It seems like a long time but hang in there....I had to wait 4 weeks after finding out...OBGYN's just don't see patients until at least the 8 week mark so you're completely normal! :)

I found out I was pregnant at 4 weeks, so I had to wait 4 weeks for my first appointment. Few doctors will see you before 8 weeks pregnant. If you start bleeding or cramping, call them and they will work you in, otherwise everythings fine.

Don't worry, we all feel like that. I'm pregnant for the second time and I can hardly wait to see my baby on the ultrasound. If it helps (and will not be too hard on your budget), make a pregnancy test at home once in a while and enjoy the double line... :-)
