An acre consists of 43,560 square feet. That is an area of approximately (208.71') 208'-8.5" by (208.71') 208'-8.5".

In yards (3'), that would be approximately 69.57 yds by 69.57 yds. In miles (5280'), approximately 0.0395284 (5/128ths) miles by 0.0395284 (5/128ths) miles. In chains (66'), approximately 3.16227chains by 3.16227 chains. In rods (16.5'), approximately 12.649 rods by 12.629 rods.

For comparison, an American Football field is 1.1019 Acres from goal line to goal line (inside the sidelines). It is 1.3223 Acres if you include both endzones. So to be more precise, 1 Acre would be from the goal line on one end to the 8.75 yard line on the other (inside the sidelines)

Because the furlong was "One Plough's Furrow Long" and a furrow was the length a plough team was to be driven without resting, the length of the furlong and the acre vary regionally, nominally due to differing soil types. In England the acre was 4,840 square yards, but in Scotland it was 6,150 square yards and in Ireland 7,840 square yards. In all three countries, fields were divided in acres and thus the furlong became a measure commonly used in horse racing, archery, and civic planning.
