I'm afraid of being eaten by them bec. the cold climate(the challenges to survival) in what is now called europe forced them to learn how to make/use/utilize FIRE. This didn't happen in other parts of the world for a long time. The cold of winter also enlarged their brainpower--they developed better hunting methods, skinned animals for clothing, improvised new weapons & tools, AND as I said , the environment led to the utilization and ability to make fires for cooking, warmth, and keeping large beasts away at night. This did not happen in warmer parts of th world at that time. Neanderthal Man was way ahead of everybody else-the cold made him think more, invent more. He had no choice--he had to survive. Life was easier in the warmer,equatorial parts of the world, and therefore mental development was slower than it was in europe.
