My motherboard is Intel® Desktop Board D915GAV i have 1gb of ram consiting of 2x 512mb. i wish to upgrade the process and was thinking of Intel Pentium® 4 650, 3.4 GHz would this be possible and if so how exactly do you remove the heat sink and fan and old processer? is this easy? how do you instal the new processer? can you reuse the old heat sink and fan?? or will this need to be replaced??

The board should support the processor you selected.

Removing the old heatsink and fan depends on the manufacturer, as there are many different types of clips and such that they use.

You should not reuse the old heatsink, as it will probably not be powerful enough to cool the faster processor. There would be a new one included as long as you buy the retail version of the card.

Installing the new processor is rather easy, and directions would be included with the new processor. Just be careful with the chip to not bend any pins.

yes its possible. when you buy new processor it contains new heatsink, fan and instruction on how to install the processor. you can use your old fan and heatsink if yout want to but it is advisable to use the new one. look to your motherboard manual on how to remove/install the fan and heatsink. be carefull on your STATIC.
