My lower stomache and back ALWAYS hurt and so does my sides and almost every thing on my body. Why is that??? Why is it that I am ALWAYS moody while on it??? Also is it true that eating chocolate does really made you feel better??? Because it works for some of my friends but it doesn't work for me.

Your uterus is contracting (squeezing) to help expel the tissue and blood supply that it has built up over the month in the event of you getting pregnant. Your uterus is actually releasing chemicals (like the ones in the painkiller Oxycontin) that make this process much less unpleasant than it might otherwise be.

Your moods change more at this time of the month because the levels of two hormones called progesterone and estradiol have dropped off a lot in the days before your period. Chocolate, in theory, has chemicals that soothe your emotions, not your pain. Try an over-the counter painkiller, like Tylenol or Midol, and put a hot pad or hot water bottle on your back or stomach. If it's serious, talk to your doc about getting some more heavy-duty drugs.

........... heres some info for you....

Cramps are caused by prostaglandins. chemicals a girl's body produces to make the muscles of the uterus contract. The contracting muscles help push the blood out through a girl's vagina during her period.
It may seem weird that cramping would be genetic, but it appears to be true.
There are many over-the-counter drugs or NSAIDs -- (ibuprofen, naproxen, advil) and acetaminophen, or Tylenol that may provide relief. A heating pad works well for cramps when used with OTC pain meds. Some women benefit from exercise; some from rest. There are also prescription drugs to help alleviate this painful disorder.

if you stomach just hurts a little then you should probably just ignore it unless it stays that way for a while. when i get my period i usually get really really bad cramps and i take ibuprofen (advil) and it works. you could try that. =)

this is because the lining of your vagina is being pushed out by your muscles and they get sore.
