No, ticks can't jump. It seem like they can because they get anywhere and everywhere, but the sources I saw say they don't. See below.

Ticks don't jump. Check out the Wickipedia source below for the complete, surprisingly complex, life cycle of ticks. I was a wildland firefighter for many years and ticks were a constant problem. All ticks can sense heat and CO2 to help them find the spot to attach on the host. Some, such as the pajahuello tick, actually crawl across the ground to a host (me!). Don't go to sleep the only shade in a cow pasture in Southern California, because pajahuello is waiting for you! (pain!!!) A Google search on "tick" turned up a whole bunch of other sources, but these were enough to convince me of the answer.

Sorry I don't have a reference for you on this. Ticks do not jump they crawl. They are a type of spider (six legs). They climb up to the top of long grass, bushes and wait for an opportunity to latch onto something that is passing by. The sysem works too well or we would be rid of these little rascals.

Well...No they can not jump. They lack the dexterity that other insects do that would enable them to jump. Here is another link that should help answer your question.

of course they do, how do you think they get up on a large dog they don't ask to come aboard. it's only common sense or just plane logic.
