I have a Toshiba Satelite laptop with a power supply problem. It won't charge the battery or even turn on now because the battery is so run down. The charging light comes on if I hold the cord in a certain way, but any little movement and the light goes out. I thought it might be the cord so I bought a new one, but it still is doing the same thing. I am guessing that its the connection in the computer where the power supply cord plugs in. Can anyone offer some info or suggestions? Also, if I need to replace a part, could you please tell me how to remove the bottom of the computer or whatever I need to remove to get at the part. I have removed a ton of screws and I still can't get the bottom open. Also, I tried removing the battery and plugging it in... still nothing, and its getting harder and harder to get the charging light to come on for even a fraction of a second... it takes lots of wiggling and manipulating the connection.
Thanks,
Chrissy

Yes, those connectors go fast. In most laptops that part is integral to the motherboard, so you can't just replace it unless you know about welding, etc. Check the Toshiba site for FRU replacement for your model -- on most laptops you need to remove pretty much everything to replace the motherboard.

It sounds like you have a bad motherboard or where ever the AC cord plugs into on the laptop. The laptop should turn on and run even with no battery. Its sounds like you have a loose connection. Sometimes though some with soldering skill might be able to fix it. Then again the boards are hard to solder as they are multi layer PCB.

sounds like the battery once you've had the computer over 3 yrs and function continually had if plugged in then it ought to have reached the maximuim cycles of fee it ought to take IE (10.000hours) Doubt its the charger as thats purely passing the potential from the plug socket and charging the battery so thats in additional than a number of circumstances a case of it is going to artwork or it wont. eliminate the battery from the computer and purely use A/C potential and be conscious if alls nicely,im fairly efficient the computer will artwork high-quality. if so then turn off, positioned battery in and attempt lower back,if difficulty persists its secure to say the middle guy between ure charger and pc is at fault (IE the battery)
