If you are referring to a 1GB USB memory stick, you would normally plug in this device to any available USB port on your computer.
If you are running Windows XP, you should hear an odd sound effect as it recognizes the new device, then after a few seconds, a new hrad drive should show up in your My Computer list of devices. (example, if you already had C: hard disk and D: cdrom drive, then this may show as E: removable drive)
You can use the USB flash memory just like any other storage device. Copy Word documents onto it, save pictures, store mp3 files, etc.
When you want to disconnect the drive, be sure to click on the little icon at the bottom right side of the screen on the task bar that says "Safely Remove device" (or something like that). If you don't do that last step, you risk causing a discharge on the memory chips that could render the flash memory drive unreadable and useless.

Okay open it up and take all of the caps and tabs off of it. It works just like a floppy disk if you've ever used one of those. It is simply physically different, goes into a different and a different kind of slot and is located on a different line in the details of files when you go to open a file. Look for the USB port http://de.lbcc.edu/resources_tools/files/flashDrive/webMacversion/graphic/USB_PORT.JPG <---- looks like that, on the front, side or back of your computer. Plug it in. Make sure it fits correctly. Look in the lower right hand side of your screen, by the time, there should be a new tiny icon that looks like a plug and an arrow. The computer recognizes the drive. You should get a pop up on the screen asking what you want to do. If you have files already created click "save files to drive." You could always click "My Computer" and find the new drive there, probably the "E" drive or "removable drive" or "______the brand name of the drive you bought," like, "Imation E" or something like that. Go to your file and click "File," Save." Sometimes the drive doesn't show up the first time. Just click out and go right back in. Click the name of the drive and then click "save." When you are ready to access the newly saved information, go to My Computer, actually you should do this before you close the file to be sure it really saved it. But go to "My Computer" and click on the drive name, click on your saved file name and then click open. That's it. LOVE those Flash Drives, and you can save sooooo much on a 1GB drive.

Insert your 1GB Flash drive into the USB connection on the front of your Computer. You will hear a sound played saying that windows found the new device. A bubble will come up saying your new hardware is ready to use. Double click on MY COMPUTER. You should see a new drive listed. - this is the flash drive. use it like any other drive. just drag and drop to it or you can right click on a file and select Send to... and choose your new drive letter. This will copy that file directly to the flash drive

First just plug it into a USB port (located in the back of the computer).
1) Go to My Computer
2) Double-click the icon that says removable disk or USB20FD. It could be something else, but usually one of those.
3) Then you can drag any file into it.
4) Just take it out and then you can take the files to another computer.
Good luck!

Plug it into any computer. Except for Windows 98, it'll automatically install drivers and look like a new hard drive. You can drag files to it, store files on it, open files from it, etc.
And if it comes up with this U3 thing, open the tools and format the fhash. U3's mostly a pain in the .

Plug the meory stick into your USB port. Once Windows as installed it, it will show up under your "My Computer" as if it is another hard drive on your PC. You simple drag and drop to it just as if you were moving things between two different folders on your computer.

If your computer has an AMD CPU, and Viatech USB Host Controllers; changing the USB Host Controller drivers to standard or generic drivers, may work. Sometimes, putting a line in config.sys, helps. ie. "lastdrive=m"

Just plug it into any USB port. It will show up in 'My Computer' as a removeable drive. Just copy stuff to it like you would a floppy disk.
