I thought the game was called "Scenario" but I cant find anything by that name. This was a war style board game where you could play out premade battle scenario's or make your own. The board looked like a dessert with little oasis and tree's and you used game pieces like little jeeps and soldiers. Last time I saw this game was around 1993 but I believe the game was made in the early 80's.

Sounds like you are describing "Squad Leader".

It had 3 expansions and eventually became "Advanced Squad Leader".

The original is long out of print, but Advanced Squad Leader still lives on and has recently added "starter Kits", self-contained inexpensive modules that help you to learn the system.

It sounds familiar but I can't remember what it was called, either.

If nobody knows the answer here, try browsing the war games at http://www.boardgamegeek.com/browser.php?itemtype=wargame&categoryid=&mechid=&sortby=name

I sorted them by name, but you can sort by popularity, or even look at all the "S" games (if you think it definitely started with "S").

Good luck!
