Yes we have a shoes off rule in our home. Ever since we bought our house that had white carpeting. My kids and I always kick our shoes off on the porch before coming in the house so there is usually a pile of shoes there. When the kids have friends over my kids usually tell them "you have to take your shoes off in my house." Most of my friends know I have the no-shoes-in-the-house rule and take their shoes off without being asked. Whenever I invite someone over for the first time I try to casually add the shoes rule to the invitation. I will usually just say "oh, just so you know we don't wear shoes in the house so you are welcome to bring slippers or just walk around in your socks." A lot of people have actually told me they like coming over because the house is so clean and it is so much more comfortable when everyone has their shoes off.

No we don't, but if someone in your home is bugged by having shoes in the house, it may be a good idea to start that rule.

I have am impeccable home, so people just usually take their shoes off when they come inside. I've never had to ask anyone to take their shoes off, they just do! It's a habit of taking my shoes off at someone else's home too. I think it is just respectful. Especially if it is a nice house, or they have light carpet.

I do not allow shoes in my house. We all walk around in our socks or barefoot. When people come to my house I usually ask them to take their shoes off. A lot of people will just automatically take their shoes off when the see the pile of shoes at the door.

No and I hate homes that do. I went to a Super bowl party at a friends house and we all had to take our shoes off. Their house was SO cold, it was miserable. To make matters worse, the owner of the house kept his ON! (sorry I felt the need to vent)
I can understand if someone gets new carpet or if its raining or snowing out.

No, but I don't find shoes all that comfortable so I usually am not wearing shoes myself. I don't like it when I am expected to take off my shoes at someone else's home -- not that it happens very often -- unless my shoes are muddy or wet. I feel stupid wandering around in stocking feet in someone else's house, unless it's someone I'm close to. And for heaven's sake, there are things called vacuum cleaners -- no point in worshipping the carpeting or keeping the house operating room sterile.

In the winter, yes.
In the late spring, summer, early fall no.
It is a hassle to keep putting on and taking off your shoes when your going in and out of the house all day long in the summer. It happens less frequent during the winter.
If my guests want to remove them, that's fine but I don't ask them.

No, I do NOT and I never will. I live in a very comfortable home and if someone wants to take his/her shoes off that is fine. If NOT then that is OK too. And If I ever go to someones home and they ask that I take my shoes off, I would most likely leave. I did go to a former friends house one day to pick up a filing cabinet. He told me I didn't need to take my boots off as we were going into the cellar. I got the cabinet and NEVER went back to his home again.

Family members are expected to take their shoes off at the back door.
I don not expect the same of my guests, however I have noticed that most will take their shoes off if they see me do the same.
