unless you are watching them from something that the tv network station is releasing it on (tv or their web site) then it is illegal. Watching the episode on youtube is illegal. Receiving an episode that was put on a VHS tape is illegal. The only way to watch it legaly is on the TV Networks web site or when they broadcast it on TV.

There are some Networks that do put their shows online. I know for a fact that NBC puts each episode of a number of their shows online to watch. There are others if you look around.

The only other way to watch shows online (however they are illegal methods) are on websites such as youtube or flickpeek.com or by downloading shows using P2P programs/file such as bittorrent or limewire

Go to the show's official web site - or that site of the network running the show. Most will have them watchable (not downloadable) at the site.
