I suspect this is a fuel or charging issue, but I don't know where to go next. Any suggestions would be helpful. I also had one person tell me the catalytic converter might be bad.

More details:
The car will start fine when cold. Then, after running it for 10 minutes in normal city driving conditions, if I shut it off, run in the store and come back out it takes 5 to 10 seconds of cranking to get it going again. It only does this after the engine is hot.
I've run a ton of fuel system cleaner through it but it doesn't seem to do the trick.
Thank you all for your input.

I am not exactly sure what you are experiencing. For example, that 3.1 engine experience something like this after going 65 MPG on freeway for say an hour and then you go into gas up and it wont "crank" Seems like a dead battery, but its not.

Lots of starters and generator and batteries replaced for this sort of problem when in fact it is not those components at all. What it is is the engine computer that has "stuck" in "advanced timing" and this set in advanced timing will cause the car to "crank" extremely hard if not at all. The solution here is to replace the module in the motor and get a reconditoned computer for about $70 at Autozone.

Could be a catalytic converter, fuel injectors, spark, maybe be several things causing this problem. You will save yourself alot of money taking it to a GM mechanic that you trust. If you guess it's like playing poker. How lucky are you today.

Not enough info here, does it "turn over" fine? Does it "try" to fire?
