My sisters iPod nano 1 year warrenty ends in a couple months and it has just had its first problem now.

When a track starts playing and the light goes off after a few secs it doesnt come back on whilst turning the volume up, i looks like the scroll wheel is a bit fucked.

The problem is that it doesnt happen all the time but sometimes it does and thats enough to want a new one but if I take it to the shop and say "look at this" and its still working fine then what can I do?
I want something to go wrong with it but not look like its my fault, eg. broken screen would be my fault.

any ideas

have you tried going in and explaining what's happening i.e. that it's an intermittent fault? say sometimes it works, sometimes it's fine. they can send it off to the manufacturers who will look into the problem. it might be that they've had a lot returned with the same problem.

if you start doing things to it to make it wrong it could make it all very suspect...

it's got a warranty on it so it shouldn't be a problem. why would you take it back if it wasn't faulty?

Just take it back and tell them the wheel works when it want to, if you delibrately break it and they find it to be damaged rather than faulty your warrenty will be useless.

I wouldn't take no for an answer, not after spending that amount of money.
