Because of the insane amount of health benefits associated with green tea, I recently traded in my morning pot of coffee for green tea instead. One thing I noticed right away was my urge to smoke was not as intense with the green tea as it is with coffee. This makes me wonder if there are any studies on the effect of green tea helping smokers to quit, or controlling the urge to smoke. I wouldn't mind trading in my smokes for green tea as well, if this is the case.

Green tea helps to remove toxins in your system while building up your immunity. Since part of the battle in quiting smoking is getting rid of the nicotine in your system, which can take 10 - 14 days, then drinking green tea can help with this.

You may be right but it could also be that psychologically you associate coffe with cigarettes and when you have a cup of coffee your brain makes you crave a cigarette to go with it.
So switching to tea might help you to cut down on cigarettes without there actually being a chemical in the tea which reduces your craving.

Green tea has proven under tests that it reduces stress, enhances blood flow, controls blood sugar, controls cholesterol levels, regulates blood pressure, strengthens the metabolism and stimulates the immune system.
So, you will feel more relaxed and the craving for fags shouldn't be as harsh.
