First of all, The Pope is the CEO of the largest and wealthiest GUY run religious conglomerate on Earth The Catholic Church.
NEWSFLASH- Not everyone is Catholic.
Second NEWSFLASH- Democrats are POLITICAL party members- NOT religious followers.
Religion...Politics ... TWO different things.

because religion and religious leaders have lost their ability to tell anyone what to with regards to moral behavior.
we all know that cardinal bernard law protected KNOWN pedophiles and moved them around from parish to parish in order to avoid the issue of child molestation by priests.
this is a ghastly abuse of power - one of the worst examples of it in modern times.
cardinal law currently has a high ranking position in the vatican.
the pope has never really had anything to say about this, or taken steps to get these criminals that are within the church prosecuted.
the pope and entire church are protecting the worst criminals of our time.
since i, and most people would never do any such thing, it means that the vast majority of us are simply BETTER PEOPLE than the pope and other leadership members of the church.
we're better in every way shape and form.
with that in mind, i can't imagine why i would ever turn to the vatican or even a priest with any moral issue or ever ask them for their opinion or guidance on moral issues...

You seem to think you know all about Democrats. Well let me give you a lesson little one. I am a Democrat, life long, I am Pro Life. Just because members of BOTH parties support a woman's right to choose doesn't mean they turn their backs on the Pope. Many of those people may be Protestents and don't recognize the Pope as any leader or they may not be Christian at all. your simplistic view of the world needs to change. It isn't black and white. The world is full of many colors, many ideas, many different people. Diversity is what democracy thrives on. Totalitarianism thrives on people believing the party line and walking in lockstep.
What good is the Pope? He is good as a leader of several Billion, yes, Billion with a B Catholics world wide. His stand on abortion is not all he is about. But you wouldn't understand. With you it is total obedience and walk in lockstep with party line.
Next time you criticize the leader of a world religion get your facts straight.

The pope is a religious leader. He is not a politician. Religious leaders who on the authority of a God not everyone believes exists dictate what 100% of humanity should or should not do have very little significance in the modern world. It's like saying "Why have the republicans turned their backs on the opinions of Jim Schwarz, Wyoming?" - he's just one man.
