I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend several times last month, beginning at the very end of my period. I was off the pill for a few days during this time and switched to a brand that has a much lower hormone level. During the past month I've been nauseous, dizzy, can't stand certain smells that never bothered me before, and I've had horrible fatigue and lower back pain and some cramping. I've also been getting nagged about my mood swings, which are way off the charts. My period was a day late, but I got it this morning. It was a super light pink at first, barely there, then nothing, now it's heavier and more brown than red. This isn't normal -- my periods have run like clockwork for years, down to the hour, and have never been this dark in the beginning. Oddly enough, I have had zero cramping or headaches the past few days, which I've always had right before I get my period. Should I be worried about being pregnant?

It is possible that you are pregnant, or that it is from changing the pills. If you started them late you could get pregnant from that, but it would also cause your period to come late if you took the whole pack. The change in the hormone level might also cause all the symptoms you are having. It would probably be a good idea to take a pregnancy test in the next few days just to be sure. If the symptoms don't get better during the month call your dr and see what they think.

Yes and no. It's really too soon to tell and you changed pills so that alone can change everything from the headaches to the nausea and the old brown blood. So, give it a week or two and then take the pregnancy test. If it's negative and you get your period again don't worry. But, I must tell you the pill is not 100%. Half my friends have babies on the pill. So, it it's a real big issue, take other precaustions like condoms, spermicide or something else....it is a rude awakening to be pregnant when you don't want to be. It causes a lot of tension and lots of decisions have to be made. Good luck.

I think that the change in your pills is to blame for this. I dont think you are pregnant. Changing your pills will cause your body to adjust...during that time you could start your period at a different time, have a different flow, and have extra or even lack of PMS symptoms. Also...just bc your period has run like clockwork for years...it can change as you get older. Your body changes year to year which can also change your cycle. A womans beody reacts to the environment...and will change based on outside things as well. If you just changed pills, I would use extra protection for a while...until you start getting into a regular cycle again.

I would deffinately go and get a pregancy test. That would be the easiest way of solving your problem. Although it may be possible that if you just changed your form of birth control that may have affected your period however I would stop them IMMEDIATELY if you do have concernes about being pregnant. You can get your period or spot once after getting pregnant because it happened to me when I found out I was pregnant. Check your breasts too and if they are tender or painful to press on I would deffinately would assume you are pregnant. Some women are different and exert signs of pregnancy later and earlier then others and who knows it may be your birth control but please please stop the birth control now and go to your nearest health department and get a pregnancy test!!

yes, you should be worried. anytime you are off the pill or changing pill you should use an alternate form of birth control. however, since you got your period, i doubt if you are pregnant. take a test in a few weeks just to make sure.

You say you changed your pill? Call the doc and tell them what's going on. Chances are they'll want to see you. Perhaps its from the change of pills? Or from missing some pills? I had a similar problem (before getting preggers) when I switched pills. Best of luck.

Oh yeah. It sounds like the way both of my pregnancies started out. Of course, this could also be due to switching hormone levels. See your doctor.

Why on earth did you have unprotected sex? There's more than just pregnancy to worry about, you know.

Go to a doctor, free clinics are just that....free. And you'll have peace of mind in about and hour. You probably just messed up your cycle, next time wait until you are done with your period, then change pills.

probably not, since you got your period. sometimes when switching birth control, your body's hormones go out of whack for awhile, it just takes awhile to get adjusted to it. when i started the patch, i was very nauseous and dizzy, it's just an unfortunate side affect that will go away with time.
