If I keep them in a dark cupboard for about 24 hours, will my roses be fine? If not what should I do to keep them fresh... God Valentine's is so trying. I swear I'll be spending most of the time from now till I go to bed tomorrow worrying that I'll have done good enough, rather than enjoy my time. I mean who the heck can enjoy themselves on Valentines! It's all about the worrying... I wish they’d cancel it... Any way... What about the flowers...

So it's better to keep them in the room exposed to sun, rather than in a dark place?

Your roses should keep, assuming that they are fresh and not cheap Tesco roses. Obviously if they are not fresh they will keep for less time, but 24 hours in a cupboard should be fine. Here's hoping they have water!!

I would go with putting them in the refridgerator. It keeps fresher longer and no water is needed with when you do that. Also just a warning don;t put them in the freezer. I once thought it was a good idea to do that to the most prettiest flower ever- but it turned brown very quick.

Hopefully you put them in water before you placed them in the cupboard. Make sure you clip off the leaves that will be in the water, and snip off about a half inch of the stem, do this under running water. be sure to change the water everyday and try placing a couple of aspirin in the water with your roses.

If you can't put them in a vase or something that holds water, wrap the end of the stems in a wet paper towel. That will keep them moist. Also, put them in a cool place, like the fridge.

do not understand how you cannot put them in water. speak to the florist you got them from. why did they give you roses that will not keep or least give you your order nearer the day or advice you how to keep them fresh. ask them to take them back and give you a fresh order.

If you wrap the roots in wet paper towels, I think they will look fine. A trick I learned from my mum.
