Her periods usually come on different days. She missed a couple of pills and didnt take her sugar pills. She occasionally has missed her pills before but this is the first time she has not taken the sugar pills. Why did she miss her period?

She could very well be pregnant if she missed pills and didn;'t use back up protection. Not taking the sugar pills will cause her not to get her period which some women do on purpose but since she missed some pills she needs to take a pregnancy test to be sure she isn't pregnant. You stated that she has missed pills before and if she is not repsonsible enough to use birth control properly then you need to use a back up birth control method at ALL TIMES. She is at HIGH risk of getting pregnant from not using the pill correctly. If she is not going to use the pill properly I would suggest you talk to her about getting on a different form of birth control before the two of you wind up expecting a baby.

When you say she didn't take the sugar pills, do you mean she just took no pills at all on those days, or did she proceed to the next pack of pills without taking any placebos? Many women skip the placebos and just go immediately to the next pack to intentionally keep their period away.

If she just took no pills at all during the sugar pills week, that will not cause pregnancy. Those pills are really only there as placeholders, to keep you in the habit of taking your pill regularly.

If she has missed pills, there is an increased risk of pregnancy. If her period is late and she suspects she may be pregnant, she should stop taking the pills immediately and make and appointment with her doctor so they can conduct a pregnancy test.

If pregnancy is not the reason for her menstrual irregularity, the cause may be the pills themselves. Different pills contain different levels and combinations of hormones, and not every prescription is right for every woman. If this is the case, she should make an appointment with her doctor to try and find a pill that her body finds more agreeable.

not pregnant. she just messes up the day she used to get her withdrawal bleeding. missing 2 pills especially on the third week and skipping the sugar pills and just starting a new pack changes the first pill day and also changes the day when she would have her next bleeding.
after skipping the 2 pills she would have had her bleeding by then but she takes the next pack instead so she would not have her bleeding this time but after the 3rd week of this pack on her usual day bleeding while taking the sugar pills.
also there's no harm in not taking the sugar pills. see http://www.fwhc.org/birth-control/continual-hormones.htm
another thing is, help your gf establish a pattern in taking her pills on time like having an alam each day and always remind her when it's the time of the day. like my husband do, he always confirm if i did take it, because i'm too busy and sometimes i do forget. by having him remind me, there's no chance that i'll be taking it late or miss a pill.

Pregnancy is one reason...but there could be others. She needs to see the doctor. The sugar pills wouldn't have anything to do with it. But missing your birth control pills will make your period very irregular.

But if you think she's pregnant she needs to get tested and she needs to stop taking the birth control pills. If she's having a baby, you want it to be healthy.

So get her to the doctor and they can tell her what to do and what's wrong if anything.

Hello there,
I wanted to explain to you that the sugar pills are just placebo's and therefore do not have anything to do with whether or not a woman has a period.
Jessica04 said everything that I would have said, there is really nothing to add to her post, she is exactly right.
Good luck and I hope things turn out the way you want them to.
Please do make sure that your girlfriend stops taking birth control pills if she thingks that she could be pregnant.
Take care,
Lady Trinity~
