basically mutate from something...

changing around your DNA.. will it affect anything if possible? or will just that DNA strand change?

You could actually infect yourself with a virus carrying a vector made to replace sections of DNA. The virus would have to penetrate cells of the proper tissues of the trait you are wanting to change however, and it would have to be far more efficient than current technology. Far more probable and workable would be to simply infect with a viral vector that expresses either a new protein or a replacement protein to targeted tissue that would alter our characteristics.

Theoretically, it's possible, but just not that likely.

Radiation poisoning is, in part, the mutation of DNA.

There are things you can do to change every strand of DNA in your body...jump into the sun, stand next to an atomic bomb going off, jump into a vat of acid.

I can't imagine any of them would be fun.

Yes. It's called Gene Therapy. Look it up for more info. The effects depend on what protein the DNA produces. Other effects include possible immune reactions.
