Greatness is determined less by the individual than by the circumstances at the time that individual is required to serve. FDR had to deal with the Great Depression and WWII. If the times were different for our nation, he could well have been a mediocre president, but he answered the challenges of his time. FDR was a greater president than Clinton, but greatness was thrust upon him by crisis.

Sorry,Bill Clinton is nowhere near FDR.Clinton was a good president, but FDR was extraordinary. It has to be admitted that most of the good things that happened during the Clinton years was after the GOP took over Congress. As pro-business as he was,a Democratic Congress would not have agreed with the vast majority of his economic strategies. And Bill Clinton was pretty iloose with his personal morals.

They were both great, and each man was the best president for his particular time. Should he have been faced with the challenges that FDR was, I believe Clinton would have done just as good of a job. I really can't say who's better because both were great for the time in which they were our presidents.

i would have to vote for FDR. and to answer your other question, no, nobody can measure up to his greatness. i think FDR is one of the top 2 presidents (with abe lincoln) in our history. he appealed to everybody and tried to help every single american. he is the only reason we have a term limit now, because the republicans were scared somebody like him would win again...and again...and again...!
by the way, can we get clinton as vice president???

Sorry, But FDR is the clear winner. We need another dem prez in to start up social works like FDR did to build walls along our broders, clean up our cities, and build green energy sources. How about turning Death Valley CA into a huge solar collector? Then we can tell the oil commies both here and in OPEC to shove it!

Didn't you really just answer your own question ("No other Democrat did as much for America than Clinton, with the exception of FDR.")?
Obviously, FDR. And for the record, Clinton was slime.

FDR was the better president. For all the reasons you cited. While Clinton was very good, he was not great.

they both had the luck and skill to be the "man of the hour" they had the skills, leadership, intelligence and charisma that were needed by their time, in their time. I don't know if their presidencies were reversed, if either could have handled the pressures of the day better, or even as well. It is bittersweey look back on great presidents, in the world of mediocrity, at best, in which we now live...

Roosevelt and Truman were great people whom I would be proud of if I were an American. I am sure they would turn in their graves if they knew that despicable war criminals, such as Penis Clinton and GW Bullshit, became US presidents.
