Nothing better than telling people what to do. I am a good supervisor though. I never try to come down hard and try work with any outside problems that may come up. I even get brought cookies sometimes. I have their respect and loyalty which is cool. What is your take?

Not bragging, just curious as to other peoples' style. Some supervisors are jerks, I try not be.

Well, I've been in both shoes. The supervisor and the employee. I can honestly tell you that you do NOT have their respect and loyalty! lol You only THINK you do! lol If you are a nice guy then you may have a few genuine admirers....but...if you aren't friends with any of them then they only have you fooled into thinking they like you. Truthfully, the only supervisors that I ever cared for were ones that I could talk to on a personal level. They didn't try to act professional all of the time. Otherwise, I would just smile and nod at them. When I was a supervisor I always made myself available. People liked me damnit!!! lol I work in the home now, though. I don't worry about it anymore...

The best supervisors are those who can motivate and create a sense of team effort.
Implement a cross training program so that wheels can still turn even if some spokes are missing. . .
The Supv must be liked by Administration or top Management and also be liked by the subordinates.
Know your deadlines and plan the workload accordingly.
Do not show favoritism and do not get romantically involved with anybody under your supervision

I have worked in management for Hilton Hotels, and for an Environmental Services company.......and the day that you aren't prepared to roll up your sleeves and work alongside your employees is the day you should hang it up. My employees all loved me because I was "real", and would never expect them to do anything that I wouldn't be willing to do myself.....

I am one of three at my store. I treat everyone well, but I have my favorites & they know who they are. To reward them, I stop business so we can play texas hold em.
