It is a common joke that people in the country are inbred therefore genetic mutation would take place for example six fingers on one hand. However six fingers or toes is actually not that uncommon, but usually the extra digit is a smaller stumpy version.
Ann Boleyn, wife of Henry the eighth had six fingers on one hand.
Postman Pat however has only four!

Quite common in India - the condition is called polydactyly. It is a congenital abnormality, usually genetically inherited as an autosomal dominant trait.
Usually it is an extra thumb but sometimes it is an extra little finger. In the leg it is usually the smallest toe. I have not seen anyone with a large toe doubled. In the case of thumb there are bones and quite well developed too. If it is the small finger some times the bone development is deficient.

It's actually a pretty common thing, and not related to being from the country or inbred. Usually, the sixth finger/toe is sort of off on the side and not fully functional. I've seen photos indicating that Marilyn Monroe had a sixth toe, although most sources debunk that story. In a lot of cases, the extra digit is removed by doctors when the person is young to avoid them being teased later in life.

It is not related to any particular group of people or any particular country. In India, Hritik Roshan, a well known bollywood star, has 6 fingers, though the 6th one is not functional and is just an attachment of the little finger.

yes. i used to know that person when i was 7-8 years old. i met her when i lived in Cambodia. but now we haven't contact one another for a long time. so i don't know anything about her anymore.
but 6 fingers on 1 hand i think it is not that uncommon. i learned in my class that the reason that some people get 6 fingers on 1 hand is because his/her parent mate with their relatvies.
it is a tradition thing. there are some country where they believe that it is alright to marry their relative whereas other disagree with that type of idea. but anyhow, all i know is that one of the reason some people get 6 fingers on 1 hand is because their parent may marry their relative either 1st generation, 2nd generation etc. i think they can marry their relative after the 3rd generation. but i'm not sure. but anything before the 2nd generation will definately result in some kind of mutation form.
it is kind of scary to marry the relative. luckily my culture doesn't allow that type of thing. :)

it dosn't have to be...i wouldn't like to call it an issue. if it is a problem for the person i doubt it would be an impossible problem to solve but the point is i don't think it should be a problem, sometimes it is the things we are miserable with that can be a blessing, you would be surprised, happyness is not nessacearly a beautiful face but about being accepted as a person apposed to being judged for not being a so called 'perfect speciman' or perfect character. For example, you could have a tendency to be stubborn but not a monster, or have a tendency to perfect worldly things but still try to not be a perfectionist of worldley things. People are not things.
