Why is this still an issue. He got elected in part by the religious right but no significant legislation has been passed to change things. The abortion rates have been gradually declining with time but they did so under Clinton as well. The point I am making is this.. If you as a parent educate your children then abortion changes. The abortion rates were the highest in the 70's and as our society changes on an individual and group level these rates have declined. Not by legislation etc. If these truely are murders then Bush has alot of blood on his hands because he has done nothing while portraying himself as a god fearing man.

taking away government funding for abortion hasnt changed the abortion rates. So how does that help if you voted him in to help end abortion. As to the Supreme Court approach... This law has been on the books so long and is in keeping with how the rest of the world deals with this issue I doubt it will ever change. Basically my point to this whole statement is.. Isn't it time we start thinking about some issues that actually affect our lives?

of course.
of all of the americans that bush and the neocons have lied to the most - the christian right have been lied to the most.
why they still support him is utterly beyond me.
consider this.
i'm 47 - from the time i was a kid abortion has been a central issue in every election. politicians on both sides get all up in arms when talking about abortion.
but abortion in some ways is an exceedingly simple issue - it is caused by unwanted pregnancies - and most politicians know how women get pregnant.
why has no politician EVER advanced a PLAN to reduce the number of abortions performed in the usa by targetting women who might have an unwanted pregnancy with education about birth control.
why indeed.
i think the politicians NEED this issue and others like them in order to divide america and get themselves elected.
what i'd especially like to know is when our govt became about issue avoidance and marketing and not solving problems...

Way to make yourself look unbelievably unintelligent....no child even born and out of the womb can support itself to live...so if a father stabs his 4month old kid to death that is not murder because the kid couldnt support itself???? Bravo, you are a prime example of what the liberal party is made up of, consider swallowing a knife.....there's no reason the woman can't have the kid then put it up for adoption......and it wont hurt her pay because it is a federal law that she gets so much time off from work, paid, otherwise she can sue the place.... so i can't find a legit reason for an abortion.....

The Republics have had full control of Congress, the white house and the Supreme Court for six years and the only issue the ever brought up was late term abortions. It appears that they want to keep it an issue for the votes that they receive from it being an issue.

i believe the term is "stare' decisis" (sp?). basically, abortion has passed, and passed challenges enough times that there is no way to outlaw it without a vote... and it would never pass a vote in the public. it is the law of the land, and it is here to stay. the only sticking point the religious right has now is to restrict medical assistance for it. this is a state level issue, and not federal, so there is nothing bush could do. on the state level, they do act on this.

I'm on the other side of this issue, but you're wrong, he took away funding for abortions done through Medicare, so no more government funded abortions, plus he appointed several Supreme Court justices with only one qualification, pro-life

Roe vs. Wade decided the issue of whether or not abortion should be legal, not President Bush. It is legal, it will remain legal and it is a choice a woman has to consider if there is an unplanned pregnancy. Before Roe vs. Wade, women would seek out "butchers" who would ram a coat hanger into their uterus and rip out the fetus. Many of the women died from the procedure. If abortion was made illegal again, do you honestly believe that abortions would stop? They wouldn't, they would just be more dangerous for the woman.
Why would this blood be on Bush's hands? It's not!
