"Investing for Dummies" about $12.00 on Amazon I believe. It is an excellent basic book on investing.

A good place to start might be checking out what the best investors are buying and selling at http://www.top10traders.com - this is a free site that lets you create a portfolio of stocks with $100,000 in "play" money. Each day the site ranks the best performing portfolios, so you can see how your picks perform compared to other investors. You can read posts on investing from the best traders, as well as share your own investing ideas. There is a charting feature, so you can see how your portfolio performs compared to the S&P 500. Also, you can create your own "group" so that you can see how you are doing compared to your friends.

Here are this month's best traders:

Good luck.

finance.yahoo.com has a lot of good information. You can track stocks, read press releases, and do industry analysis.

www.morningstar.com is another good site to use.

If you sign up for an on-line brokerage, they will have tools to use.

There a quite a few good websites. It really depends on what you are looking for.

If you are just starting out I would suggest getting anything you can get your hands on, Investing for Dummies has been suggested and is a good beginners book, and read and learn as much as you can.

Good luck and happy investing.
