I have a 94 Mitsubishi Diamante. I'm fully aware that I'm always going to have issues with my car since it's old but whatever. I got my starter replaced, spark plugs and so forth. For some reason I'm still having issues starting my car... Some people have said because it's the cold, or that you need at least half a tank during the winter when it's really really cold out.

Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.

Btw, I also placed Heet into my tank.

When I start it for the first time in the morning it's fine. But after that throughout the day it gives me trouble. It takes me a couple times before it actually wants to start. I'm suprised it doesn't start off the bat since there's a new starter. I've had my belts changed as well.

Sometimes it rumbles, like it wants to start but then it just dies. I can feel the vibration of the engine starting for like a second, then it weakens then a second later it does it again then it just stops all together.

Well, without proper diagnostics one really can't be sure, but it sounds like you might have a problem with your cam or crank sensor starting to go out on you.

My advice to you, take it to a certified and trusted technician to be 100% sure.

People are getting their wives-tales mixed up. The suggestion is that you always have at least half a tank of gas is in case you get stranded and need to run your car to stay warm.

Regarding your car, more information is needed to diagnose. Does the engine turn over? Does it sound like it wants to start? What happens when you turn the key?

OK Thara, it kind of sounds like you may have an issue with your fuel filter. I would change this first before doing anything else. It is relatively painless and inexpensive, you may be able to do it yourself if you're handy.

You can probably find it underneath the car along the frame. You may see a couple of gas lines coming from the gas tank (they may be metal or rubber). The fuel filter will be cylindrical shaped with a clamp on each end in between the gas line. The guys at the auto parts store can help you with this as well.

Best of luck and write back if that doesn't take care of it. <<<<<<------------

I need a little more info than what you have given. What does it do when you try to start it ? Does it turn over ? Does it cough or sputter as if it's trying to start ? Do you smell raw fuel ?

poor info, if the car has enough fuel pressure , i'll check the crank sensor, the distributor and the distributor rotor also, check also fuses and relays

it could be the starter itself or the alternator
