Yes, they are called collar stays. They will help to keep the collars of your shirts from curling up. You can even upgrade to brass ones for an even crisper look. Most department stores either sell collar stays or may even give you a small package of them for no cost. Nordstrom is an excellent source for either.

It depends on the style you want to have. When I buy dress shirts I don't normally get button-down shirts.
