The San Francisco 49ers have a much greater and more elabrite history. Dating back to the names of great players such as Jerry Rice, Joe Montana, and Steve Young (Steve and Joe are in the hall of fame, and Jerry is definetly on the way). The Superman 49ers of the 80's and the 90's won 5 superbowls. Whereas the Oakland Raiders won 1. The Raiders also have a couple hall of famers. A fan favorite John Madden, and a reciever who had his records broken by Jerry Rice, Tim Brown. The franchises are rivals, and the only thing that separates them is the Golden Gate Bridge. Also, the Raiders are in the AFC West along with the Chargers, Broncos, and the Chiefs. The 49ers are in the NFC West with the Seahawks, Cardinals, and the Rams. In football status, the 49ers are a much greater franchise.

The Raiders are in the AFC and the 49ers are in the NFC. The Raiders were originally in LA but moved to Oakland. The 49ers are more famous for they dominated football in the 80's. The Raiders however did win one Super Bowl. Both teams are not very good now.

Both Teams play in the Bay area,
49ers play in the NFC were a good team in the early 70's by mid 70's were a very bad team. 1980's Bill Walsh took over and won three superbowls, his replacement won two. They went to the playoffs in the early part of this century and are rebuilding. The have numerious players in the HOF
The Raiders play in the AFC. Original AFL member. Top two team in AFL in 1970's and early eighties. Won three superbowls.
Were bad in the mid 90's but made superbowl in 2002. Horrible now. Many HOFers too.
Raider fans are loud and annoying. Seem to be poorer than forty-niner fans. Just from what I see on TV.
Both teams have had huge peaks and deep valleys. Both teams play in crappy stadiums. Both teams have rich tradition.

The niners have been a better run franchise since about 1980. They have won 5 superbowls compared to the Raiders 2(i think).

niners have a potentionally better QB and RB's!!! Aaron Brooks is only good for half a season. " Trust me I'm a Saints fan!" Lamont Jordan is done and Randy Moss is leaving. Oakland has a better defense whhich the main reason niners didn't win division.

Oakland has nothing and nothing to build on long term. 49ers have a good young squad to build for the future.
