Yes, he was a knee jerk reaction to Phil Scolari rejecting the job.
The FA are now in a sticky situation, do they keep in on or get rid and pay up the rest of his contract, bearing in mind they are still paying Sven £66k a week?
If they let him go it will be expensive and embarrassing, if they keep and we don't qualify for Europe it will also be expensive and embarrassing.
Sven also had respect in the dressing room, McLaren doesn't, he's everyones mate.

oh for criminys sake give the man a break, a chance, and some time!
He's a joke compared to who exactly? Sven? Keegan? Hoddle? And they weren't jokes? yeh, right!
The only decent manager England have ever had is Ramsey and that'll soon be half a century ago!
Don't tell me Bobby Robson - one WC semi, big deal! Venables? One Euro semi where we were hosts! Every host nation of either the WC or Euros gets to the semis at least!
So, Mclaren a joke? No more or less than anyone else. We hankered after an English manager after the Swedish clown, now we've got one so GET BEHIND HIM AND GIVE HIM A FAIR CHANCE!

Why do English fans take meaningless friendlies against Spain so seriously? Maybe if you took real matches like the World Cup Quarterfinal last year against Portugal as seriously......
McLaren's goal right now is to qualify for the 2008 Euro and England will probably do that. Then it's to prepare for maybe the last real chance in your generation to win the World Cup. The 2010 tourament will be wide open, so as long as McLaren wins IMPORTANT games, all should be okay.

no longer all that efficient. ok, so the outcomes have not been that solid, and the performances were stuttering, yet enable's seem at another info. He has jettisoned some star gamers and positioned some different noses out of joint, which become what Sven's Gentlemens' club needed. He become guy Utd assistant manager in a time even as they were triumphing many stuff. solid journey. also from his guy Utd days he realized very much from Alex Ferguson and realized to address star gamers. solid journey do not you imagine? even as he arrived at Middlesborough, he took a gaggle of boozing, plodding duffers and were given them to win their first ever trophy. He took them to their optimal ever league placings, and also laced them with success in Europe. even as did they ever take care of that with Bryan Robson in fee? He can subsequently make communities go beyond a historic previous of underachieving. finally, he become in touch with England through the Eriksson era. that is the continuity the FA needs. He also added Terry Venables lower back into the fold. Wasn't HE also the guy each and every of the followers wanted? i do not recognize a lot about picking David James. i don't think of his concentration is all that solid at international factor. you ought to work out this in Euro 2004 after we conceded 6 aims in 4 matches. He makes defenders frightened. picking in-type Ben Foster become an excellent pass. i do not recognize if he's the perfect guy for England, in trouble-free words time will tell. notwithstanding, in 1980, the Italian FA picked a relative unknown in Enzo Bearzot to run the nationwide team. human beings frowned on him a similar way they're actually frowning at Steve McClaren.....and he walked off with the 1982 international Cup.

During the world cup I couldn't believe anyone could be as bad as Sven. How wrong I was, I suppose we should have guessed since he dropped Beckham. Firstly I can't believe he would deny Beckham the 6 caps he needs to get 100. Secondly why does he keep picking Shaun Wright Phillips!

Yes! I tried giving him a chance, thinking that he had to be better than Sven and look what happened. I know everyones having a go at him at the moment but is it really surprising? At this rate we're not even gonna qualify for Euro 2008!

Yes, he was chosen because he didn't frighten the 'suits' at the FA. Erickson might have been boring but when all said and done its results that count and apart from the finals when arguably it was the players who weren't up to it his were some of the best.
