Tree is cut down, branches are removed and tree cut at both ends to form a log ready to be transported to a sawmill
the log is passed through a large band saw to form rough cut planks
rough cut planks will then be put through a sizing machine to be trimmed to size to become the finished smooth planks
the planks must then be seasoned either naturally or in kilns to reduce their moisture content to the required level

trees are felled and loaded onto a log truck and taken to the lumber mill. here they are de-barked and run through a saw and cut 2 in. thick for construction planks. then cut to length. usually 8 or 16 ft. for planks. best planks are cut from hemlock

A tree is stripped of its branches then left to season after time it is sent to a saw mill where it is sawn into rough planks. These are then re-sawn to bulk size. Finally the planks are sawn again and planed to finished size.

I know the perfect solution if you are just starting with woodworking and also if you have already experience with it. I reccomend to give a look to this website ( woodworkingplans.kyma.info ) You can find a lot of woodworking plans and you will be able to manage the projects with a CAD/DWG software. It allows you to modify the projects and to alter the arragements. If you are a beginner this is the easiest way to start, it's the best approach to woodworking; and if you already have experience you will find a lot of ideas and inspirations to improve your abilities with woodwork. I'm sure that you will love it!

There were so many woodworking plans with this collection and you will not believe this but there are over thousands plans in the one package deal. Go here https://tr.im/Sm82i
This is really something to find that many all together. For someone like me who is just really starting to get involved with woodworking this was like letting me loose in a candy store and telling me I could have anything I wanted. That was my dream when I was a kid.

Firstly, you take 9 gazillion toothpicks and some glue...
Try researching on Google... call it "lumber milling process" or something... you'll probably get thousands of hits
