I say NO!!! There is no need to further perpetuate the gap between whites and blacks. I say we rewrite our current history books to contain an accurate timeline and description as to what exactly happened during and shortly thereafter the years of slavery.

Everyday is white history. The only time we hear about black history is during black history month or some black holiday. Add more black history throughout the school year and then we can get rid of the month. If you wish to see Black History month come to an end. The solution is simple, let's integrate Black History in American History text books throughout the year. And speaking as a black man, the day that occurs I will go out in the streets and help end Black History Month.

I am sick of all the TV commercials already, I couldn't care less what color the guy who invented peanut butter was, but I am glad he did. Black history month is just another way for blacks to get special treatment while saying they want to be treated as equal. I don't care what color the coaches of the super bowl were, why was that a big deal....the only people that care about color anymore in the 21st century are blacks.

No, they dont deserve more then a month. Everyone always has something to say about racism. Don't you think having black history month contributes to this? Why not give every other race a history month, surely we had many more races contribute to where we are today then just blacks. Mind you I know what Black history month stands for but what about white history month, asian history, arabic history....All races suffer and have opression. It's time for everyone to step up and see that we live in times where we have equal rights and Black history month does nothing but accentuate on Black's.
Just my opinion....
Im not racist, I love all people. My husband is black and my children are mixed, its just the point behind it.

I agree with you. I would have to say that Blacks deserve to be to recongnized and honored for their outstanding contributions year-around, rather than just a month. African Americans had a major role in the establishment and upbuilding of our nation. In addtion they have successfully rose from out of the bondage of Slavery, surpassed over the trials of the Civil Rights period, and have become prehaps one of the most powerful race groups, in reference to their significant achievements in our nation. There should be more Black History as well a other ethnic studies in our education system. America needs to know that their is way more to our country than just White or European influences, but a whole beauiful variety of cultures that are responsible for most of America's prosperity.

Heck yes. Blacks need their history integrated into the history taught in public schools year-round. But...since this will never happen, I guess a month (of whining and complaining and stupidity) will have to suffice.

I think AMERICANS deserve to know the REAL us history which includes stories of us all. I think there should be history months to focus on the themes that doesn't get touched on in Governmental histories.

Black history month, Asian history, womens history, Native American history, Hispanic history, Irish history, History of the West, etc. etc. There are so many MAJOR factors that brough the US to be, but we mainly focus on Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Franklin, and the 20th century guys. If every month were dedicated to the other areas and had equal play along with black history it might be good...

Angela C you're a very unhappy person. I have read some of your post and you are hurting inside. Did someone black do something to you? And why are you always taking about WINE? Are you an alcoholic? Most of what you say is not based on any real facts. You seem to be just full of emotions like you just got over a bad relationship.
Black History Month is an insult to black people, and brain washed black people SETTLED for it. As much as black people have contributed to this whole dayum planet, black people should be left alone.
