You're not too old. Haven't you heard? The Army raised the age limit. Go enlist.

There is a great deal that the ordinary citizen can do to help in the War on Terror. Age has nothing to do with it. I'm 66. By keeping our eyes and ears wide open and observe what is happening around us we can assist the police and security services. If we see something odd, out of place, baggage unattended, etc., phone the fuzz. I did this quite recently near Victoria station in London. The police arrived in less than five minutes. The owners of the suitcases, all Poles, were given a serious talking to. The police explained to them the importance of not leaving luggage unattended.
That's just one small incident which was dealt with swiftly. No bomb. We cannot ignore these things and must act as the extra eyes and ears of our security services.
Anything suspicious, report it.
By the way, if you report it to the police, they're not going to make life difficult for you. Not only might they catch a would-be terrorist, they might even catch someone else in the act of committing a crime.
Be a good citizen.

Do you mean you can't join the military? You might be able to, but it's not necessarily the best thing to do. Start preparing yourself for the war at home. There will be plenty to do on the home front. Learn some Arabic or Persian or Pashtu or Urdu, if you have the ability. Or help the families of the active troops; some of them are in difficult circumstances. Help the wounded solders that come home. Make friends with Muslims in your area and help them understand the importance of supporting the war on terror. There are all kinds of things you can do.

I don't believe anyone is ever to old to help their country. By the way I am 22 years older than you are and I still fight to keep America good and proud. Just because your not in the armed forces doesnt mean you can't fight. What about watching things around you and speaking up about it. There's lots of ways to fight.

You can do what they did during WWII by keeping your eyes and ears open and watching people (unfortunately have to racial profile) for things that might arouse susspision ie, pictures of tunnels, dams buildings and report them to authorities. For those thinking big brother if you did not know WE ARE AT WAR.
