You will probably start getting night sweats or hot flashes. For me I started getting night sweats in my early 40's and just new that I was beginning menopause. When my healthcare provider suggested testing my hormone levels I agreed but laughed when the nurse called to tell me my results as I had already been having night sweats. She was amused that they ran the test even though I already had a clue that I was in perimenopause. Watch for things like night sweats or hot flashes that you haven't had before and you will be able to figure out when you have started perimenopause. I never had much in the way of hot flashes..............just a few mild mild warm not hot flashes.

Menopause is the actual end of your periods for good. When you haven't had a period for 12 consecutive months, then you've had menopause. Past tense. You could be peri-menopausal now. You should go to your GYN and get some blood work done to check your hormone levels.
